Do you sometimes struggle to keep up with the speed and density of information in simultaneous?
Do you struggle when the structure of the source language is different from your target language?
Do you tend to have a short ‘décalage’ and stick too closely to the original?
If so, this workshop could help you improve your interpreting technique and output, by helping you explore ways to chop the source language up into manageable pieces (‘chunking’, also known as ‘salami technique’).
Come along at 12 pm (London time) on Wednesday 18th May. The workshop will take place on Zoom and last a maximum of 90 minutes. The recording will be available for 6 months.
What I’ll cover
- Advantages of chunking (and objections!)
- Basic principles
- Typical linguistic features that lend themselves to chunking
- Suggested exercises
Important points
- The session will take place in English. All A languages are welcome.
- Depending on participants’ language combinations, I may share some practical examples in languages other than English
- The workshop costs €40; this gives you access to the Zoom session and to the recording (for 6 months)
You can find out more about my background and experience here.
